Lust-Haves: Pillbox.

With the Melbourne Cup on tomorrow, stores have been filled to the brim with race-day apparel - dresses, shoes, and most importantly, hats and fascinators. Sadly, we can't all afford a Philip Treacy creation, and let's face it, it may not be the best of decisions anyways:

But fret not, there are plenty of other gorgeous, and more bank account friendly, designs.

Things I should do more often:

BLOG!
Moisturise my whole body (and not just my face).
Go to bed at a sane hour.
Say no.
Drink water.
Talk to strangers.
Travel the world.
Save money.
Sing in the shower.

Lust-Haves: In for the Kill.

Let me set the scene.

Sydney's temperature went up to a scorching 33 degrees today. There was no breeze, and I felt like my clothes were superglued onto me (humidity, go away!). Naturally, when I got home, the first thing I did was to open up my windows to somehow cool the room down. Then I bee-lined for the shower.

The horror began when I went back to my room. Because my room was the only source of light, all the insects and their mothers and fathers and siblings and lovers and friends decided to congregate around my windows. Some even went through my so-called insect proof fly screen and were wreaking havoc in my sacred place of sleep and relaxation.

I screamed like Janet Leigh did in Psycho, and proceeded to flail my arms in an attempt to kill, or at least detract, the pesky animals. I ran downstairs to get Mortein. Of course, there was no Mortein to be found. The best I could do was shut my windows and let my room resemble an oven again.

So today I am not lusting after anything. There are things still flying around my room that I did not know existed. My wishlist is a thing of necessity. It only has one item.

This is going to be a short post (words-wise) because I am still technically in a food coma. I am not exaggerating. After the amount of deliciousness I shoved into my body this weekend, I am surprised that my clothes still fit me.

Cheap Thrills.

A few months back, I posted (with barely contained excitement) about Versace's upcoming partnership with H&M. Well, the excitement dial has been turned up another notch, because pictures of the actual collection have been circulating the Interwebs in the past few weeks.

The collection harks back to everything Versace is famous for: bold colours, screaming prints, studded details... everything that a statement-making girl (or guy) would want to wear.

Here are some featured looks:

For those of you lucky enough to be living in an H&M populated locale, this collection is available in stores from November 17. Please be warned that I will be sending strong vibes of jealousy your way.

Lust-Haves: iCases.

I have finally emerged from the caveman era, discharging my trusty but aging lieutenant, the Nokia E71, for a new, young recruit: the hot-off-the-press iPhone 4S. What I am most excited about my new toy is not Siri, the Apps, or iMessage, but the iPhone cases. I can finally deck out my phone with the many amazing and innovative designs I have bookmarked!

Here are a few of my current favourites:

Classic Gameboy iPhone Case (many colours available on Ebay)

RE/Cover Calculator iPhone Case from Hart & Heim

Cath Kidston iPhone Cases (I honestly need them all)

Etch A Sketch Case from Thinkgeek.com

What are some of your must-have iPhone case designs?

Lust-Haves: Sidekick.

You know that blogging has really taken hold of the fashion world when I was more interested in the street-style fashion than the actual shows during the recent Paris and London Fashion Weeks. I found myself right-click-and-save-ing every second picture, and when I scroll through them now, I find that the majority of my saves were of accessories: an orgasmic clutch here, a mortgage-worthy pair of shoes there - my eyes just didn't know which of the many great photos to focus on.

While the Londoners oozed understated coolness and edge, the Parisians breathed so much life into the statement: "Fashion is Art". It is indeed. Quelle magnifique!

Face Value.

I've never done a "Face of the Day" (FOTD) post before, so when I was all dressed and made up for a night out yesterday, I naturally thought: "let's take pictures of my face and put it on the Interwebs". Yes, I am narcissistic and vain. Welcome.

WITHOUT flash (please excuse my lazy eye *twitches*)

Lust-Haves: Tick Tock.

What's this you're reading? As your eyes shift between the clock and the date stamp on this post, you're probably thinking, "is this real life?" I know it's hard to believe, but for the first time in 3 weeks, I am bringing a Lust-Haves list, ON TIME. And on that note, boy do I have the most ironic and appropriate list to show you.

Being a 9-5 working gal now, I am on the lookout for "grown-up" accessories to elevate me from a uni student image to looking more like someone who can travel on business class. Besides cultivating a work wardrobe, getting a leather handbag and some killer (but modest) bling, one "rites of passage" item is the watch. The "work watch" is not only an important fashion tool to help you stay on schedule and prevent tardiness, but it also makes a statement about the state of your life - "Yeah I'm no longer writing essays til 5 in the morning...I have a salary and a high quality breeding partner to find." (Individual statements may vary).

(L-R) Marc by Marc Jacobs Black Round Face Watch (£150.00)
Nixon Newton Watch (US$100)

Swatch Style YSS258 (US$90)
Gucci Stainless Steel, Satin and Diamond Watch (£604.17)

Movada Medium "Bold" Watch (US$495)
Ted Baker Women's Right on Time Classic Square Diamond
Cut Case Analog Watch TE2062 (US$95)

As you can probably tell by now, my style is classic with a modern edge. I like simple designs, but am still partial to a quirk here and there (a la the Nixon watch). Because of my sensitive skin, I'm not a big fan of metal/chain style wristbands; I prefer not to develop heinous skin rashes every time I sweat, thank you very much.
