During my recent sojourn to Hong Kong, I picked up 4 of the much lauded Revlon Lip Butters to see what all the fuss was about. Usually I don't like buying so many shades of the same product, but I knew that it would be ridiculously priced here (at AU$21.95 each, you have got to be joking), so I thought, what the heck. Even if I didn't end up liking them, I would not have cried a river like I would have if I had waited and bought them here. For a more, ahem, detailed rant about the pricing situation, check out Lather Rinse Repeat's post here.
What they say:
- Buttery Balm + Shiny Color
- Buttery balm with beautiful shiny color to give you baby soft, healthy glowing lips 94% of women felt lips were softer, smoother, and instantly hydrated.
- Hydrating mango, shea and coconut butter formula boosts lip moisture by 156%
- Pampering gel formula provides super charged hydration and glides on lips buttery smooth
- Sheer to medium colour with buttery shine
- Available in 20 luscious shades
The folks at Revlon were scared you might not get the memo: these babies are BUTTERY. I also bolded the butter references for your convenience.

I will not lie: these are probably the most "buttery smooth" lip balms I've ever tried and owned. It has an extremely creamy consistency, so it glides on really easily. You can tell in the swatch picture above that the formulas are actually pretty well pigmented (apart from Berry Smoothie, which I thought would be a little more opaque). Though I wouldn't recommend wearing these lip balms if your lips are flaky or chapped - believe me, it will show! Being in the lip balm category, I didn't expect them to be particularly long-lasting, but they were really soothing and comfortable to wear for the 2-3 hours they lasted.
Rocking the Raspberry Pie - my favourite shade so far!
BREAKING NEWS!! From the 12th of April to the 23rd, there is a BUY-ONE-GET-ONE-FREE deal for the entire Revlon Lip & Nail Range at Priceline. So work off those chocolate eggs you ate at Easter and hop to your local Priceline to get your hands on this buttery goodness - $21.95 for 2, and it comes in 20 shades!
If you miss out on this great deal, I would seriously recommend you source them online or on eBay, or beg any friends or family going overseas to get some for you. They are good, but not worth the Australian price tag.
Have you tried the Lip Butters yet? What do you think?
I'm going to go pick up two when the Priceline sale starts, I want to know what all the hype is about! I'm thinking of getting Raspberry Pie and another colour good for every day. How do your other colours hold up? xx
ReplyDeleteThey all last 2-3 hours but the lighter shades don't really leave a visible stain on me, whereas Raspberry Pie does (good for when I am too lazy to reapply)! I'll be getting some tomorrow too hehe xx.
DeleteHaha, detailed rant is right ;)
ReplyDeleteRaspberry Pie looks so good on you, much more pigmented than the one I tried (Creamsicle)
I'm so making that 2 for 1 sale my bitch tomorrow.
Thanks, I'm a sucker for bold colours! I am going to be at my Priceline bang on 8.30am tomorrow :D
